In 2012, Musicvox introduced the Inverted string arrangement for their Space Cadet 12-string basses, a distinctive feature that remains exclusive to the company. The Inverted configuration, also known as 'root on top,' places the fundamental string on the opposite side of the two octave strings, a setup uncommon in production model 12-string basses. This unique arrangement, previously utilized by Rickenbacker on their 4001 and 4003 series 8-string basses, challenges the conventional method. While some bassists may initially find this string configuration counter-intuitive, it unlocks new playing possibilities not achievable with basses strung in the Standard arrangement. Musicvox stands as the sole provider of a production model 12-string bass featuring the Inverted string arrangement, offering musicians a distinctive sonic and playing experience.
