The Carvin Quad X-Amp Stereo Tube Guitar Preamp, introduced in the early 1990s and built in the USA, is a rack-mountable powerhouse designed to deliver maximum tonal flexibility. Packed with a massive array of nine 12AX7 preamp tubes, this unit offers four distinct channels ranging from sparkling, pristine cleans to thick, high-gain lead distortion. Beyond its tube-driven core, it features an impressive suite of tone-shaping tools, including a 5-band graphic EQ, built-in spring reverb, an adjustable noise gate, and flexible stereo effects loops with MIDI switching. Whether used for direct recording with its cabinet-simulated outputs or paired with a stereo power amp for live performances, the Quad X-Amp remains a highly capable cult classic for players seeking authentic 90s tube warmth and versatile tone sculpting.
