Gibson ES-125 Hollow Body Electric Guitar 1950 Sunburst w/Era-correct Case
With a well-earned reputation as Gibson's hardest working, accessibly priced archtop for over 30 years of continuous production, it's not uncommon to see early ES-125s that have clearly weathered their share of hard touring, with the scars and repairs to prove it.
What's absolutely wild is finding a 1950 ES-125 (FON: 4622 26) that's essentially aged in place over 73 years, with its trademark low, even action totally preserved. From its instantly familiar 1 11/16" nut width, 24.5" scale length, and gentle "C" profile neck to its beautifully ambered (and still glossy!) sunburst finish and gold barrel knobs, this 125's original wide-coil P-90 pickup perfectly captures the lush, warm maple/mahogany tone that kept this guitar on the map for so long—and keeps it increasingly desirable today.
Notes:
This 1950 Gibson ES-125 is in Excellent condition, part of a climate controlled collection, with extremely light wear (pictured) consistent with 73 year age and only the most occasional home use. Original tuners professionally replaced with Grover Deluxe set several years ago, originals not included. All other hardware is original. Humidity-related finish cracks and light checking are present on mahogany sides (pictured), common and expected after 73 years of seasonal changes, these are not wood cracks. Includes non-original, era-correct case.
